April datang lagi. Maksudnya dah sebulan berlalu.
Dah sebulan kerja. Dah sebulan praktikal. Dah sebulan internship. Dah sebulan tinggalkan MMU.
5 bulan lagi bakal holiday sebelum kembali bergelumang dengan books, notes, assignments, midterms, and finals.
So, sekarang masa untuk aku bercerita pulak. :-)
Where do I starts? Ok pengenalan dulu lah eh..
Dapat internship placement dekat C.P.Poon & Co.
Kenapa apply sini? Actually there's no solid or favor reason apply firm nie..
sebab masa apply dulu main amek je dekat MIA audit firm list.
Masa tu sort the firm by their firm reg no. So, dalam banyak2 list tu. This firm is the first one appeared.
At that time also, ada apply banyak tempat lain.
Mostly yang I applied, dapat.. but finally decide to choose this firm.
What I consider in choosing this firm is:
1. It's at home. I mean Kota Kinabalu.
2. It's the nearest to my home. Only 10 mins away.
3. How much allowance I get if I done my internship there. - This! Make me choose them straight away and not thinking of any other firm as I've compared it to other firm's offer. :-p
4. Working day - ONLY 5 DAYS A WEEK and 8am-5pm.
5. This fifth reason I just realize it when I see the calendar! Sabah got banyak PUBLIC HOLIDAY!
Ok. enough with the introduction. Next... The working environment and my first day at work. I'm 30 minutes early. So, the first person I meet was Janet, the account's clerk. She directed me to meet one of the firm's partner. During that time, my "boss" didn't arrived yet. So, then Mr. A prepared a desk for me then I've been introduced to Suzy and another intern, Ross. First impression, the office is quite nice and the senior and colleague quite friendly. Btw, I'm the only Malay Muslim working there. It's okay with me. My boss also quite nice when I asked him if I can use any empty room for me to pray and he directly asked me to use the meeting room.
Work on my first day? Yes... Boss didn't give me a break at all. He straight away gave me work to do. He asked me to do a Complete set of Financial Report of one client. Honestly! I didn't revise and study anything a day before coming to work. So, when he gave me the work I'm a bit blurr~! But thankfully that I still remember how to do it because it's a just a basic work. So they you go, managed to finish my first job at 2pm. Then... Boss give me another job! Auditing client's company account. Seriously! I didn't know where to start. Boss just said to me "First thing to do, you go get this company's audit file at the file room". That's it! I study the client's previous audit file before proceeding to audit the current year's account until it's 5pm. It's end of office hours. So, baliklah apa lagi...
One more thing, the auditors at the firm didn't "balik lambat" at all except Boss. Everyone stop working sharp at 12pm during lunch hour and will "balik" sharp at 5pm. So, since environment is like that, so I pun apa lagi.. sukalah.. ikut je cam depa. Kekeke.. Itulah yang 5.20pm I dah bersenang lenang dekat rumah. :-) Ahaaa! they play games as well tengah2 buat kerja dekat computer. Jangan tekejut, this one colleague play "the sims". Hahahaha.. Fb-ing and browsing tengah2 key in UBS pun ade... My jiran sebelah meja loved to put on k-pop song! So, apa lagi... ber- girls generation, big bang, super junior, cnblue, ftisland, 2pm, 2am, etccc.. Hari-hari ok repeat from 8am to 5pm. Then everyone will put on their earphone and listening to mp3 during work.
Experience working there for a month, hmmm.. quite ok. There's times when you "bengang" why is it not balance the TB Worksheet. Where did I wrongly enter the figure? Juling mata tengok numbers. Most hateful things during audit when it comes to the computation of deferred tax and the reconciliation of accounting profit and taxation profit! Benci punya benci pun I have face it during this 6 months period of internship. First month of interns, I do 2 accounts and 2 audits which is 4 companies = 4 clients. Btw, being an auditor really helps me improve my soft skills and my level of confidence in dealing with people especially the client itself, it boast our critical thinking with many "W" question pop up in your head. Inquiring an information, confirmation, and verification of certain things during audit process. Being an auditor also needs a person become more detail and accurate.
Zillionnn thanks to Nurie for her helped by explaining to me how to do audit and disturbing her, whatsapping her for the first 2 weeks working there just to asked her how to do this.. how to do that.. bla.. bla.. bla.. Hehehe.. Siap ada audit lesson on the weekend.
Honestly!
I kinda LOVE being an Auditor and Accountant.
There's times when you feel stress and so on.
But, yeay.. I still love this job so much.
Really.. really thankful that I've made my decision to change courses from engineering to accounting 6 years ago. Till then... I end this post with a quote from my darling cousin.
"If you love what you do, treat your job as a hobby then you'll be happy and stress free." - Kak Nan.
